Preparation for the Future
At Lorien Wood, we want to equip students with practical skills, character development, and preparation for college and life beyond.
Service Hours
High School students contribute a significant number of service hours to our school community each year. These hours provide an opportunity for high school students to grow as servant leaders, practice faithfulness, and demonstrate care for others.
Student Emails
When students enter the Upper School years, they are given school email addresses. Students are meant to use this tool to take ownership of their learning, steadily grow in their independence, and responsibly communicate with their teachers.
Physical Education
Physical exercise is essential for maintaining healthy minds and bodies. Along with daily opportunities for movement and outdoor time, our high school P.E. requirement helps students build lifelong healthy habits.
College Prep
Students in Form 6 who are considering college as part of their future are required to enroll in this course. In this course, students will prepare for the Classical Learning Test, investigate and narrow down their college choices, craft entrance essays, plan for and complete applications, as well as practice various life skills necessary for the transition to college.
Individualized Courses
Form 6 students are given the opportunity to enroll in courses focused on specific areas of individual interest or to participate in an educational internship to explore future career goals. Students have taken the following:
- Zoology
- Greek
- Advanced Psychology Research Methods
- Fundamentals of Aviation Science
